Alison Turnbull (b. 1956, Bogotá, lives and works in London) works primarily in painting and drawing, often transforming ready-made information - such as plans, diagrams and charts - into abstract paintings. The found source material is reimagined and made vivid through colour and through the intensity of the worked picture surface. Works on paper include editioned prints and an ongoing series of drawings – Exercises – made on stationery and printed papers of all kinds, displayed horizontally in long vitrines. She has also realised several major architectural commissions in London and elsewhere, using a wide range of materials.
