Snapdragon, 2012

£264.00

Snapdragon was made to accompany a solo exhibition at Talbot Rice Gallery in Edinburgh in 2012, which included a large wall painting made for the gallery’s round room. Titled Various Coloured Snapdragon, the painting took as its starting point the colour manual, Werner’s Nomenclature of Colours, that Charles Darwin carried with him on his groundbreaking voyage on The Beagle. The print is a condensed echo of the painting, now painted over. Its printed off-white background and graph-paper grid make the white circles, which are simply the colour of the paper, appear to pop out and animate the other colours.
