Alison Turnbull
Colour Chart ATX2012 (Apple Varieties), 2012
£240.00
Alison Turnbull (b. 1956, Bogotá, lives and works in London) works primarily in painting and drawing, often transforming ready-made information – such as plans, diagrams and charts – into abstract paintings. The found source material is reimagined and made vivid through colour and through the intensity of the worked picture surface. She is presently working on paintings that derive from a composite astronomical image created by data from the Hubble Space Telescope. Works on paper include editioned prints and an ongoing series of drawings – the Drawing Tables – made on stationery and printed papers of all kinds, displayed horizontally in long vitrines. She has also realised several major architectural commissions in London and elsewhere, using a wide range of materials.
Selected solo and group exhibitions include Ikon Gallery, Birmingham (2021), Saicoro Gallery, Tokyo (2020); Turner Contemporary, Margate (2016); De La Warr Pavilion, Bexhill (2014).
Alison Turnbull is represented by, and has exhibited at, Matt’s Gallery on several occasions, most recently with the solo show, If Mimicry Minded, in 2018.
