The Last Horror Show at Backlit
Nathaniel Mellors' Invigilator (Flat) and Brow Painting XL are showing as part of the exhibition The Last Horror Show opening tomorrow at Backlit, Nottingham.
The Last Horror Show delves into the darker realms of contemporary art and moving image to explore immersion, the unknown, special effects, and the emotional reactions they provoke.
Featuring works by Jonathan Baldock, Gina Birch, Xin Chen, Matthew Chesney, Maya Deren, John Humphreys, Elizabeth Alice Keen, Nathaniel Mellors, Kim Thompson, and Oliver Ventress.
The works were first shown during Mellor’s 2022 exhibition, Estate, at Matt’s Gallery. Estate brought together a collection of films and sculptural works, using the figure of the Neanderthal and the study of the Upper Palaeolithic as "a lens for the present."
Backlit show runs: 26 October – 8 December
Thu – Sat, 12pm – 5pm
