MattFlix is pleased to present The Occasional Advent Series, a new commission by Paul Tarragó.

The series is made up of ten very short films - seasonally-themed - to be released one by one between the 1st and 24th December. A new film will appear here every two to three days, where it will join the others.

“Why Xmas-themed?

Largely it was the notion of the advent calendar that drew me: a series of revelations measured out over a discrete time span. Also, the idea of this being a time for giving, i.e. these videos are undeniably free (!), and made with the hope that they’ll bring some viewing pleasure to the world.

And thirdly (though maybe first): Xmas doesn’t usually mean much to me – and the last two have been pretty grim, what with Covid and my mum’s death last year – so making something for this season felt like a refreshing challenge.

This was meant to be a side-project but, inevitably, has been repeatedly sneaking centre stage and holding much of my attention these past few months. Which is fine – and has been fun. Hope you feel similar…”
