4 July – 1 September 2002

Copperfield Road

For his first exhibition at Matt’s Gallery, Till Exit will build a complex mechanical structure in steel and glass that will incorporate video projections and monitors.

In his plans for the gallery, the artist has referenced the architectural intervention found in abandoned and derelict factories in East Germany. There, buildings reflect changing industrial needs in their structures. Remnants of separations and constructions overlap and merge, leaving traces of former functions.

Till Exit is interested in creating an experience. By entering the gallery, the viewer is forced to become a part of the work whilst maintaining a critical distance.

His work is defined by the meeting of the individual and the industrial, and he is interested in the relationship that is formed. He finds an intimate and poetic quality in the industrial forms that have become a part of contemporary life everywhere. Till Exit lives and works in Leipzig, Germany.
