Join us for a tour of two of two exhibitions at The Whitechapel Gallery:
Out of the Margins: Performance in London’s Institutions 1990s – 2010s is an Archive exhibition focusing on shifts in institutional approaches to performance and live art from the late 1990s until the opening of The Tanks at Tate Modern in 2012, when the status of the practice changed and was given public visibility through events and dedicated spaces in gallery and museum programs. It includes Matt's Gallery as a key space in that story and features documentation of Anne Bean's Radiant Fields (Matt's Gallery, 2000) and Hayley Newman's The Daily Hayley (Matt's Gallery, 2001), pictured above. Erin Li, Whitechapel Gallery Asymmetry Curatorial Fellow will introduce the exhibtion.
The London Open 2022, a triennial exhibition showcasing the most dynamic talent from across the capital. This edition includes several artists who have worked with us in recent years: Michelle Williams Gamaker and Patrick Goddard who will join us for the tour, as well as Jordan Baseman, Will Cobbing and Janette Parris.
This is an event for patrons and friends only. Click here to become a supporter of Matt's Gallery and gain access to supporter benefits.
